Content feeds

Have the bot watch a source and post new items to a channel: YouTube videos and go-lives, Twitch and Kick go-lives, GitHub activity, or any RSS / Atom feed.

YouTube, Twitch, and Kick events are pushed in near real time (a new video or a channel going live shows up within seconds). RSS and GitHub are checked on a poll interval that you choose.

The Feeds feature is on by default. Open Feeds in the sidebar. The server must be active and the feature on.

Adding a feed

  1. Click Add subscription.

  2. Choose the Source type and fill in the source:

    Source typeWhat to enter
YouTube channelThe channel URL or its UCxxxxxx ID. On YouTube, open the channel, click the description, click Share, then Copy Channel ID, and paste the UCxxxxxx (or the full /channel/UCxxxxxx URL). New videos and go-lives are pushed in near real time.
Twitch channelThe channel URL or username (for example https://twitch.tv/ninja or just ninja). The bot posts when the channel goes live, pushed within seconds.
Kick channelThe channel URL or username (for example https://kick.com/xqc or just xqc). The bot posts when the channel goes live, pushed within seconds.
RSS / Atom feedThe feed URL. Any public Atom or RSS 2.0 feed works (Reddit, Mastodon, Bluesky, Steam news, and so on).
GitHub repoowner/repo, then pick a stream (releases is the most common).
  3. Pick the Post to channel where new items should appear.

  4. (Optional) Open Optional extra settings to set the poll interval (for RSS and GitHub only), the Enabled switch, and a Custom announcement (where you can tag the roles to ping). YouTube, Twitch, and Kick are real-time, so they have no poll interval.

  5. (Optional) Click Test feed to preview the latest item before saving. For Twitch and Kick this confirms the channel resolves.

  6. Click Add.

Delivery: push vs poll

  • Pushed in near real time (YouTube, Twitch, Kick): the source notifies the bot the moment something happens, so posts land within seconds. Once in a while a YouTube post may be delayed by roughly 30 minutes, but that is rare.
  • Polled (RSS / Atom, GitHub): the bot checks the source on the interval you pick. New items appear at the next check, not instantly.

Settings explained

  • Poll interval: how often the bot checks a polled source for new items. This applies to RSS and GitHub only, from every 30 minutes up to once a day. YouTube, Twitch, and Kick are real-time and have no interval to set.
  • Enabled: pause or resume a subscription without deleting it. Disabled subscriptions do not count toward your per-server limit.
  • Custom announcement (optional): write your own post wording with the rich-text editor. Leave it blank to keep the built-in layout, which is shown greyed-out in the editor as a placeholder (for example **New video from {feed.source}** + title + link). Tokens: {feed.source}, {feed.kind}, {feed.title}, {feed.link}, {feed.id} (see placeholders).
  • Pinging people: type @ in the custom announcement to tag a role, a member, @everyone or @here, and # to link a channel. Each role and member tag gets a Ping switch, the same way as on Send a message. @everyone and @here start on Tag only. To ping on a feed that uses the built-in layout, write your own announcement and add the tags to it.

Feeds set up before tagging existed

Feeds used to have a separate "roles to mention" list. Those roles (and @everyone or @here) were moved into the custom announcement as tags with Ping switched on, so those feeds keep posting and pinging exactly like before. A feed that used the built-in layout now shows that layout written out in full.

Managing feeds

The list shows each subscription's source, status, target channel, poll interval, and last activity. For each row you can:

  • Re-post the latest item now (the replay icon), handy for testing the target channel.
  • Edit the subscription.
  • Delete it.

If a feed fails repeatedly (for example the source URL broke), the row shows a failure count so you can spot and fix it.

Limits

Each source type has its own per-server cap on your plan: YouTube, Twitch, Kick, RSS / Atom, and GitHub are counted separately, so hitting your YouTube limit does not stop you adding a Twitch or Kick channel. Only enabled subscriptions count. The page shows your usage per type (for example "YouTube 2/3 · Twitch 0/2"). Disable a feed to free a slot without losing its configuration.

If the owner's plan stops including feeds, your feeds are paused, not deleted. The bot stops listening to the YouTube, Twitch and Kick channels you follow, and starts listening again by itself once the plan includes feeds again. That can take up to about a quarter of an hour, so a stream that starts right after you subscribe again might not be announced.
