Staff command

The /staff command lets any member quietly reach your staff team. Running it opens a box to type a message, and the bot posts that message into a private staff channel you choose and pings the role(s) you pick. It is a calmer alternative to DMing a moderator or @-ing staff in a public channel.

To stop spam, each member can send one /staff message every 5 minutes.

What it does

  1. A member runs /staff and types their message in a pop-up box.
  2. The bot posts it as an embed into your configured staff channel, showing who sent it, and pings the role(s) you chose so staff get notified.
  3. The member gets a private "sent" confirmation that only they can see.

Until you set a channel, /staff tells members it hasn't been set up yet and to find another way to contact staff in the meantime.

Setting it up

Open the Commands page in the dashboard, find /staff in the Default commands list, and use the controls on its row:

  • On/off and allowed roles: whether the command is enabled (it is by default) and who may run it (empty = open to everyone).
  • Staff channel: the private channel staff messages are posted into. Pick a channel only your team can see. This is required, the command does nothing until it is set.
  • Roles to ping: the role(s) notified on each message. Leave it empty to post with no ping.

Note that who may run it (allowed roles) is separate from the roles that get pinged.

Notes

  • The sender is shown to staff, so your team knows who to help and can follow up.
  • The cooldown is per member, per server: one message every 5 minutes.
  • The message only pings the roles you configured; other mentions a member types stay inert.
