Polls
Let members run quick polls in your server. Someone runs /poll, types a question and a few options, and SnowstormBot posts a native Discord poll. When it closes, the bot posts a tidy results summary in the same channel and keeps the poll in your dashboard history.
The Polls feature is off by default and depends on your plan. Turn it on from the Features page. There's nothing else to configure, members use the command themselves.
Starting a poll
Anyone in the server runs:
/poll question: Where should we host game night? option1: Discord option2: Minecraft option3: Among Us duration: 1d- question is what you're asking (up to 300 characters).
- option1 and option2 are required; option3 through option10 are optional, so you can have anywhere from 2 to 10 choices (up to 55 characters each).
- duration is how long the poll runs. Use formats like
1h,12h, or2d. The shortest is 1 hour and the longest is 7 days; if you leave it out it defaults to 24 hours. Discord runs polls in whole hours, so a shorter request is rounded up to 1 hour. - multi_select (optional): set it to true to let members pick more than one option. By default each member picks just one.
SnowstormBot replies privately to confirm and tells you when the poll will close.
How voting and closing work
Members vote with Discord's built-in poll buttons, and Discord shows the running tally live. You don't need a separate command to vote.
When the time runs out, the poll closes on its own and SnowstormBot posts a results summary in the channel: each option with its vote count and percentage, plus the winner (or a tie). The summary never pings anyone, even if an option contains a mention.
Seeing past polls and customising the summary
Open the Polls page in the dashboard to see this server's polls, newest first, with their status (open or closed), the channel they ran in, and the final tally for closed ones. Polls are always started from Discord with /poll.
The live poll is Discord's own and can't be changed, but you can customise the result summary the bot posts after a poll closes. Leave the field blank for the built-in summary, or write your own with {poll.question}, {poll.results} (the per-option breakdown), and {poll.total} (see placeholders).
Plan limits
How many polls can be open at once in a server depends on the owner's plan. If the plan includes zero, the feature shows Requires plan upgrade on the Features page and can't be turned on. See Plans & limits.
Tagging roles, members and channels
In the Close summary box you can type @ to tag a role or member, or # to link a channel, the same way as on Send a message. Each role and member tag gets a Ping switch underneath. Ping means Discord sends those people a notification, and Tag only shows the tag without notifying anyone. @everyone and @here start on Tag only, so nobody pings the whole server by accident.
If a member leaves, or a role or channel is deleted, the tag keeps showing its old name when you edit the message, but you can no longer pick it again. In Discord it then shows as a broken tag.
