Notifications

The dashboard keeps you posted about things that finish in the background (so you don't have to sit and wait), through the bell in the top bar and a dedicated Notifications page.

The bell

The bell icon (top-right, next to your profile) shows a badge with the number of unread notifications. Click it to open a dropdown of your most recent ones.

  • Clicking a notification marks it read and, if it has an action (like a file to download), runs it.
  • Mark all read clears the badge.
  • View all notifications opens the full page.

If you're on the site when something finishes, the badge updates on its own and a small toast lets you know. If you're away, the notification simply waits for you, so it's there the next time you sign in.

The notifications page

Notifications in the sidebar lists everything, read and unread, newest first. Unread items are highlighted and marked New. You can mark a single item read by opening it, or clear everything with Mark all as read.

Notifications are per-account: you only ever see your own.

What sends notifications

Today, notifications are used for data exports, for example the moderation records export. When an export you requested is ready, you get a notification; clicking it downloads the file. Exported files are available for 24 hours. If an export fails, you get a notification about that too.

You also get notifications about Bot Identity & Appearance: when a change to the bot's look could not be applied, when your plan stops including it (or your server is suspended for being over its plan's limits) and the bot goes back to its normal look, when Discord did not let the bot put your saved look back after you subscribe again, and when a saved picture or banner could not be brought back.
